| Nutsert Tooling Information - Blind Rivet Nut Installation | |
With all blind rivet nut tooling, it is essential to specify not only the diameter of insert being used, but also the material, in some cases, even the head style is needed, to identify the correct tool. Our sales staff can advise on the tool options and suitability to meet your requirements. Most nutsert tooling is specified to set a single diameter or rivet nut, additional diameters may be set by the purchase of additional nose-kits. Hand tool kits for nutserts are frequently sold complete to set M3 to M6 rivet nuts, although an M6 in steel can be challenging. Prototype toolkits suitable for setting small volumes of nutserts or in locations with limited access are available, individually or with a range of sizes. With nutsert hand tools, the normal practice is to screw the nut onto the tool mandrel, although some tools have a 'drill' unit for this, and then compress by hand to set the nut. A thumbwheel, or drill unit, allows the tool to be unscrewed from the set nut.
Airtools are normally equipped with an automatic spin on function and spin off when the nut is set, this is either as an integral part of the operation with a single trigger, or a two step trigger or two triggers. Correct setting of the nutsert tools stroke length is essential to ensure correct nutsert installation.
